Sonia Raman, Owner

I started Sightline in 2012 after watching a neighbor in Plantation get three different quotes for the same window count, none of them matching the final invoice. That still happens, and it still bothers me. I measure every opening myself or supervise the tech who does, and the number on your quote is the number on your contract. No change orders, no “we found rot” surprises. I’m state-licensed, I carry the bond and insurance documentation in my truck, and I answer my own phone more often than my family appreciates. When I’m not on a job site, I’m usually arguing with a manufacturer rep about U-factor ratings that don’t match their own spec sheets.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been with us since 2017, which in this trade means he’s seen what Hurricane Irma did to improperly anchored frames and what the 2020 code changes fixed. He’s NAMI-certified for impact installation and holds a specialty certification for high-rise balcony door systems, which matters more than you’d think in Plantation’s newer condo developments. Marcus runs the crew’s Tuesday morning tool calibration and keeps a spreadsheet of every manufacturer’s torque spec, updated quarterly. Off the clock, he coaches a U-14 soccer team in Sunrise and has strong opinions about which brands’ white vinyl actually stays white past year three.

Elena V., Senior Installer

Elena came to us from a commercial glazing crew in Miami-Dade, where she spent six years installing curtain wall on buildings that don’t forgive a quarter-inch variance. She transferred that precision to residential work in 2019 and now handles our custom and geometric window jobs, the ones where the opening isn’t rectangular and the manufacturer needs field-verified dimensions before they’ll cut glass. She’s particularly sharp on SHGC calculations for west-facing Plantation homes, where the afternoon sun hits hard enough to fry a dashboard. Elena speaks Spanish with our customers who prefer it, and she keeps a photo album of every odd-shaped window she’s finished, partly for reference, partly because she’s proud of them.

Darnell K., Service Coordinator

He’s been with us since 2020, and before that he spent eight years in facilities maintenance for a hospital system, which taught him to triage calls without panicking the person on the other end. Darnell schedules every measured survey, confirms every license number with the customer before dispatch, and follows up 48 hours after installation to make sure the photo record uploaded correctly. He lives in Lauderhill, knows which Plantation neighborhoods built out in the 1980s versus the 2000s, and can tell you which era’s stucco prep typically hides surprises behind the trim.

Javi R., Apprentice Installer

Javi joined us in 2023 through a vocational partnership with Broward College’s construction technology program. He’s completing his 2,000-hour apprenticeship under Marcus and Elena’s joint supervision, which means he’s already handled more real installations than some techs with five years of “experience” at fly-by-night operations. Javi’s current specialty is flashing integration, the waterproofing layer that most failures trace back to, and he’s obsessive about cleaning his sealant joints before they skin over. He grew up in Plantation, went to Plantation High, and can usually guess a home’s original window brand by the frame profile before he gets the ladder off the truck.
